Capital Punishment Is No Deterrent
to Criminals
A punishment given to a human being for
breaking the law must yield positive results in the long run. In the long run
means eventually, such that with a lot of effort and realization, you achieve
the best solution. Surely, even lawfully putting an end to one's life will not
help increase goodness in the land of the living. Will it?
From the
Ancient
God gave the first law to Adam and Eve: Do not
eat or touch the fruit of Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God also said
that if they disobeyed they would die. Eve disobeyed. She caused Adam to sin.
To the
Omniscient
As a father corrects and watches over his
children, God drove sinful Adam and Eve out of proximity to the Tree of Life.
That was punishment indeed! Then God Himself made clothes and covered their
nakedness, which they hardly realized was the result of disobedience. God gave
clues: Toil and sweat and live! His divine forgiveness made man realize that
there was grace still left. God's love is as eternal as God's righteousness. So
God forgave and stepped out into the world of man to be with him and work on
and with him.
Life
Begets Life
Death itself is not the answer! A man who has
committed an unlawful act is one who is truly in need of the road to life. Such
a person needs one chance to live and see daylight. In such a path of
resilience, there will be truth grounded in conviction. Even when a criminal
dies in prison, after realization born out of time, then the crime itself is
ensnared, while the soul is set free. So why capital punishment? To appease
human ire?
